If you guys have maids or nannies or "boys" or drivers, I just have one tiny piece of advice that i hope you heed...Love them. Im not saying "wag po kooyaaaa!!" kinda lovin alright?!? Im sayin treat them nicely, treat them with much respect, and if you can, treat them like family. Some people I know like to shout at their maids, reprimand them in front of guests, and treat them like theyre lesser beings...but theyre not! They work to feed their families just like you. They strive to get a better life just like you. They get tired and mess up JUST. LIKE. YOU. Plus you really ought not to mess with the people you entrust your house, car, kids, belongings and food to...you can never tell what one can do if one is trapped in a corner. So LOVE THY HOUSEHOLD HELPERS... I for one have been raised to treat help like family. So when my hubby and i got a nanny, im proud to say she's one of the lucky ones. We dont ask her to do everything, we drink and eat with her, play games and watch movies with her, joke around with her, bring her to places she'd like to go, watch the shows she likes on TV with her, value her inputs, we dont scream at her (well sometimes we do jokingly and she'll shout right back) and simply put- we make her feel wanted and loved. So even if there are circumstances that makes her want to leave us and go back to the province, the fact that she enjoys what she does and who she's with makes her stay. But since i know what its like to miss your family, we ley her take a months vacation. And boy is it tough. My hands are sore from doing so much laundry, our schedules are affected, we all have to do more work..its hard but we decided to sacrifice a lil for our Margie. Man, I miss her now. Not just coz i'd appreciate some help but because I miss her as a person who i enjoyed hanging around with, sharing stories with. Thank God she wants to go back to us. So if youd want to keep good help these days and if you wanna do the right thing, see your help as people, see them as your equals, show them you appreciate their hardwork, use PLEASE and THANK YOU and again...love thy household help.
 | i agree! although, it has burned me in the past, and my little province lass heart couldn't get it then, how some people can refuse to reciprocate the kindness and just take you for granted. :(
i experienced what you're going through now last year, my hands also took a beating from the laundry! but i lost weight, going around the village with Ringo and playing with him to keep him entertained! good luck luv! |
